A female referee making history


Doha: French referee Stephanie Frapart will make history by playing the match against Germany and Costa Rica on Thursday night. Fraparte will become the first female referee to officiate at a men’s World Cup after the World Cup Group E match in Qatar.


FIFA has selected a female referee for the men’s World Cup for the first time. FIFA has selected a female assistant referee for the match between Germany and Costa Rica. Fraparte will be supported by Brazilian referees Neuja Back and Mexican Karin Diaz Medina.

That history will be made in the 44th match out of 64 matches under the World Cup. She has also played World Cup Qualifiers, French Cup Finals.

Similarly, Frapart also played in the 2019 Women’s World Cup final.
