Facebook has recently added a new feature called Link History to its social media platform. This feature collects the data of any link clicked from within the Facebook app in a special place. Users can also turn off this feature. But the link history feature of Facebook app is open by default.

Facebook uses this feature to show targeted ads to users. At a time when technology regulation is becoming tighter in the world and companies like Apple and Google are strengthening user privacy, Meta is looking for new ways to collect user data. And the link history feature is one of them.

What is special about this feature of Meta?
The company is promoting it as a useful tool. But its real story is very different. The company is claiming that it is a tool, through which users can get their Facebook browsing activity safely in one place.

According to Meta, users will never miss a link twice because of this new feature.Facebook has given this information in a popup message and is encouraging people to use this feature. However, the company says in its popup message: When you allow link history, we may use your information to improve advertising in various meta technologies.

According to Meta, once this feature is turned off, the user’s link history will be deleted in 90 days.According to Facebook’s help page, the link history feature is currently not available for all users and will be rolled out globally.

Meta is always accused of tracking user data. Until recently, Apple and Meta were posting against each other, the real issue being privacy policy. However, this will be the first opportunity for Facebook users to gain some control over their privacy.

In addition, Meta collects user data in various ways. When you click on a link on Facebook or Instagram, it opens a special browser, which is built into Meta’s app. It does not open in the user’s regular browser.
