District Court has ordered the release former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane on a bail of Rs 6.5 million.
Kathmandu. The Kaski District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Swatantra Party President and former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane on a bail of 6.5 million.The bench of Kaski District Court Judge Nitij Rai has ordered his release on bail. Even if the district court asks for bail, he is not in a position to be released. The police will bring him to Kathmandu to be produced in the Swarna Lakshmi Cooperative misappropriation case filed in the Kathmandu District Court.
The Kaski Government Attorney’s Office had registered an additional indictment against 63 people, including Lamichhane, who is also a former Home Minister, on 5th Poush and a supplementary indictment on 7th Poush, claiming a sum of 1.51 billion.A case has been filed against Lamichhane on charges of cooperative fraud, money laundering and organized crime. The detention order came today after a long debate in the same case.
The Kaski District Attorney’s Office has filed a case claiming a sum of 33.765 million for the embezzlement of funds from Surya Darshan Cooperative. Similarly, a sum of Rs 278.944 million has been claimed for money laundering.
Along with Lamichhane, former vice president of Gorkha Media, Chhabilal Joshi, who is also a former DIG, Ravi’s aide Leela Pachain, former MP and founding vice president Meena Gurung, founding member Meena’s father Krishna Bahadur, and former treasurer Aarti Gurung are also defendants.
