5G trial starts telecom, can be used for free


Kathmandu. Nepal Telecom, a government-owned mobile service provider company, is finally going to start testing 5G. The company is going to test this service from Babarmahal and Sundhara area in Kathmandu on the occasion of English year 2023.

Speaking to Tekpana, Nepal Telecom’s spokesperson Sobhan Adhikari informed that the 5G trial will be started after about two years of getting permission from the regulator Nepal Telecommunication Authority.”We will start the trial from Kathmandu on January 1,” he said. He said that according to this, the work of testing the equipment is going on.

“Detailed testing of all the necessary equipment should be done to start the test. Meanwhile, as the state and House of Representatives elections were held, dedicated technical manpower had to be deployed in our core support for the election. As a result, the test has been delayed,” he added.

The authority has provided 2600 MHz frequency for testing. The spokesperson informed that the test will be started from this frequency. He said that there is a plan to proceed with the things discovered from the test and start with it for commercial purposes.
